A couple of new features for news posting:
bold text, italicized text, and links!

After doing some research, I was pleased to discover that I do not in fact have to write an entire bare-bones web-based word processor in order to preserve the formatting of news posts. I have a function in place that should take care of the basic formatting issues, and next I'll work on adding the ability to put bold text, italic text, links and a few other goodies in the news posts.

This is just a test...but not for anything you'll see here... ;)
Uh...not using a crappy generic html entity for inputting posts. Preserving formatting would be hella sweet.
Just finished writing and started testing the first version of some glorified blogging code for the website. I wouldn't even call it 'blogging software' per se; it's pretty much just a script that lets logged-in members submit news posts to the database and a function that can be called from a particular webpage to display the latest X news posts from a particular person's news table. Still thinking about a more clever approach to determine whose news to display when the function is called on a page - right now it does something very simple and silly, i.e. require the username be passed in. Anyway, more news to come once Queen looks it over and makes comments/suggestions. Hey, I might even add custom signatures! Oh, and if -you- have comments or suggestions, feel free to email me. -Dirty
